Mauritania remains a real country of nomadic cattle, sheep and camelid breeders in the south of the country. In the northern regions, the herds are mainly made up of goats and dromedaries.
In service since 1963, the iron ore train covers 704 kilometers during its journey through the Sahara Desert from Nouadhibou, on the coast, to Zouérat, an iron mine in central Mauritania.
On the one hand, the Arabo-Berbers or Moors, and, on the other hand, the Negro-Africans, who include the Toucouleurs, the Sarakolés, the Bambaras, the Peuls, the Wolofs and the Soninkés. There is also a third group: the Haratines or black Moors.
